Aspect ratio and resolution: what to pick per task and how it affects price

Square, 9:16 or 3:4? 1K or 4K? Which formats each Visnea model supports, what to pick for marketplaces, stories and print — and when paying extra for resolution is worth it.

Aspect ratio is the first thing you pick after the prompt, and you cannot "fix it later" without losses. Cropping a square into a story kills the composition, and generating in the wrong format means generating again. Here is how format and resolution choices work in Visnea.

Where it lives

In the Studio, below the prompt, there is a "Format" selector. The options depend on the model — the panel only shows what the model actually supports:

  • Nano Banana, Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, Qwen Image, GPT Image 2 — Square 1:1, Landscape 16:9, Portrait 9:16, Landscape 4:3, Portrait 3:4.
  • The FLUX.2 family and Seedream — 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, 16:9, 9:16.
  • GPT Image 1.5 — only 1:1, 3:2 and 2:3. This model has no wide 16:9 or 9:16 — if you need screen formats, use GPT Image 2.
  • Video models — 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 as the core set; Seedance 2.0 adds 4:3, 3:4, cinematic 21:9 and an "Auto" mode (adapts to your uploaded frame), Grok Imagine adds 2:3 and 3:2.

The rule is simple: generate in the target format from the start. The model composes for the frame — in 9:16 it builds the scene vertically instead of just trimming the sides.

Resolution: when to pay more

Nano Banana Pro has a "Resolution" switch in its form: 1K, 2K and 4K. It affects the price — at the time of publication that is 12, 15 and 18 cherries per image respectively.

  • 1K — screens, social media, drafts. Platforms compress files anyway.
  • 2K — large banners, detailed textures, images people will inspect closely.
  • 4K — print and cropping. If you plan to cut out a fragment or print A4/A3, go 4K from the start.

For every other model the alternative is the "Image upscale" tool in the Editor (10 cherries): it doubles the resolution and detail of a finished image. "Generate on a cheap model → upscale the best take" is often cheaper than generating everything at maximum quality.

Video: 480p to explore, 720p+ to publish

For video models quality is a separate control, and the multipliers are real. Examples at the time of publication:

  • Grok Imagine: 480p is the base (6 seconds cost 6 cherries), 720p costs 2×;
  • Seedance 2.0 Mini: 720p costs 2.2× the 480p price;
  • Seedance 2.0: a 480p → 720p → 1080p → 4K ladder, with the top step costing almost 11× the base;
  • Kling 3.0: the 4K mode costs 4.8× the standard one.

So the workflow is: debug motion, timing and prompt at 480p, then run the final take at 720p or 1080p. The "Cost" line in the form recalculates on every change — no surprises.

Three mistakes that cost cherries

  1. Square "just in case". The image later gets stretched into a banner — and redone. Pick the format for the destination before generating.
  2. 4K for a feed post. The platform recompresses the file, the difference disappears, the extra cost stays.
  3. Final video straight to 1080p with no draft. One 480p test costs a fraction and tells you whether the prompt works at all.
